Self-Love on Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a celebration of love, and in the midst of all the romantic, family, and "Galentine" love that will be flowing this season, this is also the perfect opportunity to show YOURSELF some love as well. Whether you're single, in a relationship, or simply looking to focus on your wellbeing, practicing self-love can help you feel rejuvenated and appreciated. Here are four simple ways to practice self-love this Valentine’s Day:
1. Reflect on Your Self-Love Journey and Set Intentions
Valentine’s Day is a great time to reflect on your personal journey. Take a moment to look back on how far you’ve come, acknowledging your strengths, growth, and accomplishments. What goals have you accomplished that you didn't think were possible? What immediate challenges still lie ahead for you? Take some time to reflect and journal about whatever comes up for you, and make a list of intentions or goals for the upcoming months, whether it’s about building more confidence, practicing gratitude, or focusing on personal development. Self-love begins with first looking inward.
2. Indulge in a Spa Day at Home
Who says a spa day has to be expensive? Treat yourself to a relaxing and rejuvenating spa experience at home. Light a candle (our candles Spa Day or Peace of Mind, with their crackling wooden wicks, would fit perfectly here), play your favorite music playlist, and run a warm bath infused with essential oils or bath salts. Pamper yourself with a face mask, followed by your skincare routine, or give yourself a manicure or pedicure. The goal is to relax and take time to focus on your personal wellbeing.
3. Treat Yourself to a Delicious Meal or Dessert
Is there a special restaurant that you've been wanting to try? Or a particular recipe that you've been holding on to? A great way to practice self love this Valentine's Day is to nurture yourself with a special meal or dining experience that you'll truly enjoy. Treat yourself to a takeout meal from your favorite restaurant or indulge in a decadent dessert, savoring every bite. If you choose to dine out solo, make reservations for the day before or after V-Day to avoid the crowds, take a good book, and make it an experience! Self-love sometimes means not waiting for the company of others to give yourself the enjoyable experiences you've been wanting.
4. Write Yourself a Self-Love Note
Pop culture may have you thinking that love letters are only for couples or only happen in romance movies, but that couldn't be further from the truth. A love note is simply a written expression of admiration, love, and acknowledgment of someone's worth. So, what do you love about yourself? What do you admire? Spend some time solo or as a fun group activity, writing it all down in a one-page letter to yourself. When you're done, you can spend some additional time getting creative, decorating your note with designs or spraying it with your favorite soothing fragrance. Try R&R for a relaxing scent or Dear Mama for our most popular mood-enhancing fragrance. Then, be sure to keep your self-love note somewhere special, where you can refer back to it later on, when needed.

V-Day is a great time to show your loved ones how much you care about them, BUT it doesn’t have to only revolve around others. Taking time to prioritize your wellbeing, whether through relaxation, enjoyable experiences, or self-reflection, can help you practice self-love in meaningful ways this Valentine's Day....and beyond!
